Spirit Camel Giclée Print: Limited Edition Graphite Drawing, Title "Resilient Tr

The drawing of a man overlaid with the image of a camel belongs to the Animalia series. This drawing combines my perspective as a naturalist with a love of animals, along with their symbolism and mysticism. The camel symbolizes pilgrimage, endurance, traveling, stamina, persistence, and commitment.
The reference that I use for my drawings is all taken from photographs that I've taken while observing animals in the wild, in preserves, and at zoos. The people depicted range from family members and friends to acquaintances and total strangers. I combine animals and people with backgrounds that suit the subjects. The original artwork is created using .2 and .3 mechanical pencils, gradually building up layers of graphite until the desired levels of darkness are met, with great attention to composition, texture, and detail. I approach my work from the viewpoint of a naturalist, combining my subjects and backgrounds. I compose my drawings merging images as I draw to create a feeling of mysticism and a bit of fantasy. This graphite drawing of a camel and man is 11"x 14", and although relatively small in scale, it took almost 100 hours to complete.
 
In the series “Animalia” I explore the ethereal bond between human figures and animals, where there is a narrative of unity and mutual understanding. These drawings remind us of our interconnectedness with the natural world and the unseen forces that bind us together while fostering a sense of compassion and reverence for the interconnected web of life.
 
My love of animals, mysticism, and the subtle influence they have on our lives comes together in this ready-to-frame giclee print. Prints are made by giclee experts using the finest quality materials, including heavy, acid-free paper and archival ink. The original graphite drawing is 11 x 14 inches; full-size prints are available as a limited edition of 50 prints, each hand-signed and numbered. The mystical wildlife image has a wide border for matting and framing.
 
The series “Animalia” was accepted for exhibition at ArtPrize and included as part of a solo exhibition.
